Who Do You Believe In

Believing in people is not just that you acknowledge they exist, but rather that you have come to trust them; you can rely on them and depend on what they tell you. A message from someone you trust is sure to be accepted. However, to receive a message from someone you do not know or someone who has a grudge against you is a different matter. What we believe is influenced by who we believein.

What about believing in God? Do you think God is real and trustworthy? Millions of people today do think so. They believe God loves them and therefore will provide the best for them. If you do not believe that, why not? Have you not found evidence that He does love you and you have every reason to believe in Him?

The words of the Lord Jesus Christ at the top of this page ask us to go further. He expected people to believe in God. He asked them also to believe in Him. There was certainly plenty of evidence that they should believe in Him. His words, His miracles, His whole life and ministry pointed clearly to how unique and trustworthy He was and is. He was the Son of God who had come into the world to reveal God. Through His death on the cross He has made it possible for sinful people to be reconciled to God.

By believing in Him, sinners like us can be forgiven and accepted by a holy God. In John 3:18 we read, “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” Belief in the Lord Jesus Christ is of vital importance.
